Welcome to Khumbu Region !

This agreement outlines the regulations all climbers and expedition group must adhere to while climbing the khumbu region,including Mount Everest.Following these rules is crucial for environmental protection and a safe, enjoyable expedition for everyone.

1. Waste management :

   • waste must be sagregated into designated categories at your camp, including:
     1) Glass; 2) Tin/Can; 3) Plastic; 4) Paper; 5) Kitchen Waste.

   • Every climbers ascending beyond Everest's base camp must bring back at least 8 kg of garbage to base camp.

   • All garbage should be submitted to the SPCC representative at the base camp or at the SPCC office in Namche or Lukla.

2. Human Waste management :

   Human waste (toilet) produced at the base camp must be collected in portable plastic barrels

3. Prohibition of Burning and Burying Garbage :

   Burning and burying garbage at base camps is strictly prohibited.

4. Prohibition of Rock Paiting :

   Painting on rocks is not allowed in Khumbu region.

5. Permit Checks :

   SPCC has the authority to verify your climbing permit at any time during your expedition.

6. Service Charge :

   SPCC will collect a service charge for the transportation and management for garbage.
